According to internet media:
ST. LOUIS • Today's River City Grand Parade, the signature event of St. Louis Mardi Gras, got under way this morning under cold and cloudy skies, but has avoided being rained on thus far.
A chance of drizzle and flurries remains until noon, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts as high as 24 mph could come from the north.
Post-Dispatch photographer Johnny Andrews posted on Twitter that it's "cold, overcast, and very loud at mardi gras but luckily no rain...yet." (Follow him on Twitter at @johnnystl. Photographer Emily Rasinski is also covering the parade and can be found at @emilyrasinski.)
The heavy showers that began in the St. Louis area late Friday afternoon ended before sunrise, leaving the area with about 1 1/2 inches of rain.
But those showers brought in a cold front. The forecast calls for cloudy skies, high winds and a temperature of 42 degrees when the parade steps off at 11 a.m.
According to the official Twitter for Mardi Gras Inc., participants in Soulard Friday evening were ready for the festivities to begin.
